NDC New Zealand Dry Gin

NDC New Zealand Dry Gin comes from the National Distillery Company in Ahuriri, Hawke's Bay, a grain-to-glass distillery founded by bartender, distiller, brewer and chef partners Blair Nicholl, Ricardo Reis and Cristian Hossack in a 1930s Art Nouveau building that once housed the National Tobacco Company. Its base spirit is unusual: a four-times-distilled ethanol made from casein whey, a by-product of New Zealand's grass-fed dairy industry. It is copper-distilled and bottled at 44% ABV (88 proof).

This is NDC's London Dry-inspired expression, juniper-forward with lemon peel, coriander, angelica, cardamom and New Zealand orris root, more than 63% of the botanicals sourced locally. Expect classic pine and citrus with a soft, rounded texture from the whey spirit. It is a clean, refined gin for a Martini or a G&T, and a rare chance to taste New Zealand craft distilling in San Diego.
